Few had fellowship with the sorrows of Gethsemane. The majority of the disciples were not sufficiently advanced in grace to be admitted to behold the mysteries of “the agony.” Occupied with the passover feast at their own houses, they represent the many who live upon the letter, but are mere babes as to the spirit of the gospel. Job Well Done!
In Matthew 27:50, Jesus cried out again with a loud voice, and yielded up His spirit.
The final cry of Jesus signified the completion of His mission here on Earth. In other Gospel records, we are told Jesus cried out “It is finished.” The work of salvation was completed but something else was also completed. In the 33 years that Jesus walked on the earth, He taught us who God is. If you notice, Jesus was always called “Rabbi” which means teacher. Jesus spent 33 years revealing God to humanity and only about 6 hours to redeem man into right relationship with God. More >
