In Matthew 27:60, Joseph of Arimathea laid the body of Jesus in his (Joseph’s) own new tomb, which he had hewn out in the rock and then rolled a large stone against the entrance of the tomb and went away.

This man Joseph, whom John refers to as a secret follower of Jesus, could not follow secretly anymore. He was investing his life into God’s kingdom. Many times we say we believe in Jesus Christ but the way we live does not support our belief. We spend a lot of time on YouTube, Facebook, Netflix, watching sports, etc., but we don’t recognize the value in letting God renew our minds and transforming our lives. We ask God to transform our lives but we don’t want to put in the effort to let our lives to be transformed by God. I really want to lose weight but I don’t want to exercise nor do I want to eat healthy. We contradict ourselves all the time. God wants us to be willing for our lives to change in order for Him to make the change. We must have our hearts aligned with God. If we want God to work in ways we can’t think or imagine, we need to have our hearts open and willing for the change to be done. Joseph put his time, money, effort and dedication to provide Jesus a proper burial. We need to set in our hearts to give Jesus a proper living place after He lifts our dead lives from the graves we have lived in for so long. The hardest thing to do is lift up someone who is fighting against being lifted up. Jesus will come into our lives no matter what condition it is in. He does accept us as we are. However, that doesn’t mean He wants to continue living in the same filth we lived in for so long. We must open our hearts and our minds so Jesus can continue to lift us up into His perfect image. It’s time for our “Extreme Makeover: Jesus Edition!”
