In Matthew 21:26, the Pharisees continue to reason and say amongst themselves, “But if we say, ‘From men,’ we fear the multitude, for all count John as a prophet.”

Now, here is the other side of the reasoning! The fear of man can make us hide our convictions. If the Pharisees believed the baptism of John was from men, they should have came out and said so. It’s tough when you believe something but because you don’t want to lose your fan base, you live completely opposite from what you believe. Many times we find ourselves in these same situations. We hear the world blaspheming God’s holy name, but we don’t want to speak out. We don’t want to be confrontational but rather we want to be accepted. Well, as long as we are following Jesus Christ, having Him live in us, allowing our lives to be led by the Holy Spirit, we will never be accepted by the world. 1 Peter 2:9 tells us we are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s own special people, that we may proclaim the praises to Him who called us out of darkness into His marvelous light. If we are accepted by God, that is all we really need.
