In Matthew 27:61, Mary Magdalene was there, and the other Mary, sitting opposite the grave.

When drastic events happens in life, it takes time for people to get past the shock, the unbelief, and the discouragement. In most cases, we even doubt God. While all the disciples fled from Jesus, the two Marys were at His grave site. It was a hard concept to swallow. They were trying to put two and two together to see where it all went wrong. They saw first hand all the miracles Jesus did. They heard His sermons and His parables on God’s love and forgiveness. They watched Him willingly go to the cross. They even heard Him cry out for forgiveness for the very people who were crucifying Him right before He died. It wasn’t making sense for them. Jesus proved Himself to be God yet His own people killed Him. Society has been attempting to assassinate God since the beginning of time. From “Has God really said” to the crucifixion to books like “God is Not Great” and “The God Delusion,” it is an assault on the character of the Most High God. Just imagine if the Jews were successful back in 33 A.D., the New Atheist would not have to work so hard nowadays. At the same time, they wouldn’t have been able to become rich from the books they publish so it seems they also benefit from the existence of God. However, they should realize that if they couldn’t keep God on a cross or in a tomb back then, no matter how hard they try to keep God out of schools, government, public places, and now even in some churches, they can never remove Him from the heart of every human being to ever walk the face of the earth, even in their own hearts.
