In Matthew 2:4, Herod gathered together all the chief priests and scribes of the people and he inquired of them where the Messiah was to be born.

The chief priest and scribes were scholars of scripture but they were too spiritually blind to recognize Jesus the Christ, the King of the Jews had come into this world. Herod was trying to rid himself of a problem that would happen in the future. The obstacles that Jesus had to go through at conception, at birth, in ministry, and in death is a miracle in itself. If Herod would have found Jesus, the chief priest would not have had to crucify Jesus later on. God’s power was watching over Jesus and carried Him to the cross and raised Him from the grave. When people find out who Jesus is, it leads them to action. Some people who find out about Jesus become angry and hostile doing their best to remove any evidence that He ever existed. Then they say they have no evidence to believe in Him. That’s convenient. The other people who come to know Him cling to Him and we see changes taking place in all aspect of their lives. Those of us who have experienced Christ and have embraced His love still have a hard time believing where we used to be a  a day, a week, a month, a year, five years ago to where God  has delivered us and we have tears of joy when considering the place He is taking us.
