In Matthew 27:64, the chief priests and Pharisees continue to say to Pilate, “Therefore, give orders for the grave to be made secure until the third day, otherwise His disciples may come and steal Him away and say to the people, ‘He has risen from the dead,’ and the last deception will be worse than the first.”

We are always planing ahead to be a few steps in front of our opposition. This is probably why countries spend so much money on military and defense funds. We can advocate that most of our planing and funding should be on education, but that isn’t necessarily the solution either. Education is extremely important but if we give a bank robber proper education, we only teach him how to rob a bank with less effort. If we provide a murderer with education, we only teach him how to build gas chambers to murder mass amounts of people. After all, the first atomic bomb was designed by a well educated man. The Jewish leaders were right. The latter deception was far worse than the first but only because they deceived themselves in the process. Jesus has actually risen from dead. The Jewish leaders decided to sacrifice the lives of their own brethren in order to be right and keep their political and religious positions. This has not changed from generation to generation, nation to nation. The cross is the most offensive part of history and it causes people to rebel. We see the worse in people who refuse believe in the death and Resurrection of Jesus Christ when the topic of the cross is brought up. If we truly want to reverse the deception the devil has brought upon us, we must lay down our lives. If we reach a person’s mind, they will do better with what they have been taught; if we reach the center of their heart, they will live better by what they have been taught.
